Name/TitleTwist box
About this objectWelsh twist box with embossed dragon and "CYMRU" on lid.
Brass twist boxes were used to contain a "plug" of tobacco, which coal miners would take down the mines. Cigarettes were forbidden so tobacco was chewed instead. Brass was used as it did not cause any sparks when opened or closed.
