At the end of 1969, a group of Christchurch citizens gathered and discussed the idea of forming a Canterbury Rugby Supporters' Club. On 22 July 1970, a meeting was convened to form the CRSC. The aims of the club were to support and foster rugby in Canterbury. The Club flourished and was widely regarded as the best supporters' club in New Zealand, if not the world.

By 2006, Lancaster Park was in need of an upgrade, so it was decided to replace grandstands #1, 2 and 3 with a new stand, which became known as the Deans' stand. As a consequence our club had to move from our beloved quarters - the “Tractor Shed” under #2 stand - and by November 2007 all our memorabilia and ephemera had been packed away in the expectation that space would be found for a new club room. Construction had started on a new space when the Christchurch earthquakes of 2010/11 stopped work.

Fortunately none of our memorabilia were badly damaged and the collection spent some time stored in a container until it was moved to the Canterbury Cultural Collections Recovery Centre at the Air Force Museum of New Zealand in Wigram. This online catalogue is a result of that initiative.
